Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau Valley (Lunch, Dinner)

AM: Our comfortable car and English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 AM and leave directly for Mai Chau – with just a brief stopover to visit the Song Da hydro-electric power station.

The drive will take approximately 4 hours total; inclusive of the several stops we’ll make in route to view a number of awe inspiring landscapes visible along the way. We will travel through Hoa Binh Province; a region known for its spectacular limestone mountain formations and then proceed to Ban Lac Village where the local peoples are said to be distantly related to ancient tribes from Thailand and Laos. We’ll spend the rest of the morning exploring the village and enjoying the traditional hospitality of our tribal hosts until after lunch, when we’ll continue further on our journey.

PM: In the afternoon, we’ll take a refreshing walk across the breathtakingly beautiful valley, passing through numerous hand cultivated rice fields on our way to visit another fascinating tribal village where we’ll enjoy our dinner for the evening. After dinner we’ll have the opportunity to taste the special wines the region has to offer and also to join in with our hosts as they perform ancient ceremonial dances for our enjoyment. In the early evening we’ll be driving back to Mai Chau in order to spend the night at a selected hotel in the town.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch)

After having breakfast in an area with simply the most incredible view imaginable; you’ll be free to wander amongst the houses in the area to get a glimpse of the daily routines of life of the local people. The village is operated as a cooperative organized by the people themselves, who specialize in weaving various styles of brocade products, and are all quite happy to show off their special talents and various handicraft skills for their visitors.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Hanoi with a whole new perspective on life in rural Vietnam and many wonderful memories stored in both our cameras and our hearts!

We’ll arrive back in Hanoi late in the afternoon… and that will mark the completion of our Mai Chau Valley adventure.

End of service!
